Lori Tatum is a Huntsville-based painter and founder of Flourish Fine Art Gallery & Studio. She creates expressive, light-filled paintings that reflect her faith and belief in finding beauty in every stage of life. Through her gallery, classes, and events, she serves art lovers, collectors, and aspiring artists who are seeking inspiration, connection, and creativity. Since beginning her artistic journey in 2012, she has cultivated a thriving art community and developed a body of work known for its vibrant color, thoughtful layers, and emotional depth. With a background in self-guided study, hands-on experience, and a heart for encouragement, she brings both skill and soul to everything she creates. I started my art journey later in life, following a quiet nudge that had been with me since childhood. I was always drawn to art, but fear kept it tucked away. One day, I decided to let curiosity lead, and with no formal training—just a willingness to try—I picked up a brush. Painting quickly became a meditative rhythm for me, something that brings health and joy to my soul. It’s more than a creative outlet—it’s a conversation between me and the canvas, full of honesty, wonder, and grace. I create to give hope and bring light into the lives of others. Watching a painting move through its messy, beautiful stages reminds me of how God sees us—works in progress, never abandoned, always loved. Even in the rough or uncertain layers, there is beauty to be found. People often tell me my work feels expressive, calming, joyful, and even nostalgic. That makes my heart full, because that’s what I hope to offer: a moment of connection, reflection, or peace. My work is luminous, a little playful, and deeply rooted in the belief that beauty can be found at every stage—on the canvas and in life.
