The person behind the work
Spending time outdoors in nature is where I find my greatest inspiration. I found my passion for painting later than most artists, but I have made up for lost time pouring myself into my art after retiring from federal service after over a thirty-year career. My style emerged rapidly because I painted frequently and was passionate about learning. I have taken workshops with master artists throughout the US, Europe and Canada, but it was only through my own hours spent behind the easel that my style and growth emerged. My paintings are a dance between representational and abstraction and can lean either direction. The subjects chosen are ones that I have an emotional connection with. I generally begin my landscape paintings with studies done in plein air. I study the subject that I am painting but I allow my intuition to guide me in the process. I love texture, interesting brush strokes, and I am never without inspiration of subjects to paint because of my love of nature.
