Gretchen McKee

The person behind the work

Gretchen is a working artist out of Huntsville, Alabama. She has her degree in Fine Arts from Auburn University, with a major in Printmaking and minors in Illustration and Painting. Gretchen has been working in one area or another of these fields for over 30yrs. In the last 4 years, her attention has turned to painting working primarily in watercolor and oil, developing series after series of contemporary abstract landscapes. Her use of oil combined with cold wax capture the sensory elements of the landscapes before her through the layering of color and texture prompting the viewer to continue to look deep within each painting. Her paintings are highly intuitive and draws on the viewer to, not only see the sky and the landscape, but feel them.
